August is National Black Business Month – it is a time to recognize and support Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs across the United States. It was founded in 2004 by historian John William Templeton and engineer Frederick E. Jordan Sr. to highlight the contributions of Black-owned businesses to the economy and to promote diversity and equity. The month-long celebration encourages consumers to support Black-owned businesses, which helps these businesses grow and thrive. It also aims to address the unique challenges faced by Black entrepreneurs, such as access to capital and resources.
